Keeping Families Safe Program (Peninsula Health)

  1. About this service

KFS program provides assistance to families where an adolescent uses violence in the home. Focus is on safety and respectful behavior, we support the adolescent’s understanding of their emotions, and build skills to better manage conflict and effective communication; also provide new parenting approaches to support improved relationships.

Keeping Families Safe (KFS) program also provides an online parent group. The group runs for six weeks. Participants do not need to be clients of our case management service to partake in the online group. KFS clinicians use a trauma informed lens and provide a non-blaming, family dynamic approach to adolescent family violence. Topics covered include: Family violence vs adolescent family violence; Family relationships; Understanding anger; Effective communication; Adolescent development; and Self-care. Contact KFS workers directly or email for further information and to make referrals.
